KYOTO Design Labでは、ストックホルムを拠点に視覚表現を重視した文化ドキュメンタリー作品を制作する映画監督スヴェン・ブルーメ氏をお招きし、スウェーデンで最も重要な建築家の一人であるシーグルド・レヴェレンツ（1884–1975）の生涯と遺産に新たな光を当てた長編ドキュメンタリー『Lewerentz Divine Darkness（レヴェレンツ 聖なる闇）』の上映および、ブルーメ監督とKYOTO Design Labラボ長 エルウィン・ビライ教授による対談を開催いたします。

スヴェン・ブルーメ Sven Blume
ストックホルムを拠点とするドキュメンタリー映画監督。2013年にストックホルム芸術大学（Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts）でドキュメンタリー映画の学士号を取得。以来、数多くのドキュメンタリープロジェクトを手がけ、美術、建築、ミュージックビデオ、ダンス、展示など、幅広い分野と協働してきた。最新作となる長編ドキュメンタリー『Lewerentz Divine Darkness』（2024）は、建築家シーグルド・レヴェレンツの仕事を探究したもので、建築を扱う作品としては二作目にあたる。ワールドプレミア以降、世界各地を巡回し、30か国の主要な映画祭、美術館、大学、文化施設で200回以上上映され、スウェーデン国内では劇場公開およびテレビ放送も行われた。これまでの作品には、受賞作『Crooked Lines of Beauty – My Grandfather, the Architect Carl Nyrén』（2021）や、アメリカにおける代理出産を扱った『For Somebody Else』（2020）などがある。作品は国際的に高く評価され、映画祭、美術館、ギャラリー、映画館、公共放送などで広く上映され、数々の賞を受賞。映画への貢献が認められ、2023年にはスウェーデン映画アカデミーの会員となった。

KYOTO Design Lab is pleased to welcome Stockholm-based filmmaker Sven Blume, who works mainly with visually driven cultural documentaries.
The event will feature a screening of his feature-length documentary Lewerentz Divine Darkness, which sheds new light on the life and legacy of Sweden’s most influential and enigmatic architect, Sigurd Lewerentz (1884–1975), followed by a dialogue between Director Blume and Professor Erwin Viray, Director of KYOTO Design Lab.

Sven Blume
Sven Blume is a Stockholm-based documentary filmmaker. He graduated from the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2013 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Documentary Film. Since then, he has directed numerous documentary projects and collaborated across disciplines including fine art, architecture, music videos, dance, and exhibitions. His latest feature-length documentary, Lewerentz Divine Darkness (2024), explores the work of architect Sigurd Lewerentz and is his second film on architecture. Since its world premiere, the film has toured internationally with over 200 screenings at leading festivals, museums, universities, and cultural venues in 30 countries, alongside a national cinema and broadcast release in Sweden. Blume’s previous films include the award-winning Crooked Lines of Beauty – My Grandfather, the Architect Carl Nyrén (2021) and For Somebody Else (2020), a documentary on surrogate motherhood in the United States, as well as several short films. His work has received critical acclaim, winning awards and being screened worldwide in festivals, museums, galleries, cinemas, and on public broadcasters. In recognition of his contributions to film, he became a member of the Swedish Film Academy in 2023.
