京都工芸繊維大学 KYOTO Design Labでは、EXPO2025 大阪・関西万博に関連し、スイスパビリオンと共同でワークショップを開催します。

これまでKYOTO Design Labは、スイスパビリオンの設計チームManuel Herz Architectsとデザインスタジオを実施し、スイスパビリオンに使用される素材のアップサイクル方法を検討。タープシェードやハンモックを制作し、松ヶ崎キャンパスに期間限定で設置・検証を行いました。その制作過程の映像は現在スイスパビリオン会場で展示されています。

今回のワークショップでは、スイスパビリオンに設置する「日よけ」をデザインし、実際に会場に設置します。設置場所がすでに決定しているため、環境条件に応じた素材の選定や、切れ込みの入れ方の工夫など、実践的な検討を行います。なお、短期間での完成を目指しているため、スケジュールの調整が可能で、継続的に参加できる方に限り、募集します。

KYOTO Design Lab will hold a workshop in collaboration with the Swiss Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

In the past, KYOTO Design Lab has organized design studios in collaboration with Manuel Herz Architects, one of the planning and design teams for the Swiss Pavilion. The studio explored methods for upcycling materials used in the Swiss Pavilion after the Expo and developed prototypes such as tarp shades and hammocks. These prototypes were temporarily installed and tested in the courtyard of the Matsugasaki Campus. A video documenting the production process is currently being exhibited at the Swiss Pavilion.

In this workshop, participants will design and install a sunshade for the Swiss Pavilion on site. As the installation location has already been decided, the workshop will focus on practical aspects such as selecting materials suited to the environment and devising appropriate cut-out techniques.

In light of the short project timeline, we are seeking applicants who are able to adjust their schedules and commit to continuous participation throughout the workshop.
