KYOTO Design Labでは、採集者・デザイナー・プリンターとして「Foraged Colors」を軸に採集物から色を生み出し、京都工芸繊維大学では草木染めを応用したインクを布用顔料インクジェットプリンターにインストールする実験的研究を進める吉田勝信氏、そしてマルセイユを拠点にFotokinoを通じて出版・展示・天然染料のプロジェクトを展開するアートディレクター、ヴァンサン・トゥセ＝アンレス氏を迎え、クラフト作家の杉浦晴美氏を交えて公開トークイベントを開催します。
本トークセッションでは、両氏が海・山・街での採集から顔料化、印刷・出版までをどのように往復し、素材の履歴や土地性を表現へと翻訳しているかを語り合います。

吉田勝信
採集者・デザイナー・プリンター。山形県を拠点にフィールドワークやプロトタイピングを取り入れた制作を行なう。近年の事例に海や山から採集した素材で「色」をつくり、現代社会に実装することを目的とした開発研究「Foraged Colors」や超特殊印刷がある。趣味はキノコの採集および同定。

ヴァンサン・トゥセ＝アンレス Vincent Tuset-Anrès
マルセイユを拠点とするアートディレクター、キュレーター、グラフィックデザイナー、エディター。2000年に非営利文化団体 Fotokinoを共同設立し、2004年からアートディレクターとして、展覧会、ワークショップ、イベント、出版活動の方向性を担っている。2011年には、芸術的な探求と出会いの場として、マルセイユにStudio Fotokinoを開設した。
Fotokinoの出版部門を通じて、アーティストたちと密接に協働し、本そのものを創造的な空間として位置づけた出版物を制作。また、文化機関や出版社とともに、展覧会、書籍、ヴィジュアル・アイデンティティの開発など、独立したキュレーションやデザインの仕事にも取り組んでいる。さらにFotokinoのチームとともに、天然染料の色やその出版・印刷への応用に関する複数のプロジェクトを主導しており、プロヴァンス、モロッコ、セネガルにおいて、アーティストや職人たちと共にさまざまなプロセスを実験している。
2025年には、京都のヴィラ九条山におけるレジデンスを開始し、日本におけるアート出版の歴史や技法に焦点を当て、それらが自身の実践にどのような示唆を与えるかを探究している。
杉浦晴美
クラフト作家として12年以上にわたりフランスを拠点に活動。藍や茜などの天然染料で染めた布を素材に、日本の折り紙をはじめとする折りの技法や、西洋のプリーツ加工を応用し、独自の作品を制作している。また、デザイナーとのコラボレーションによる作品づくりも行っている。

KYOTO Design Lab is pleased to host a public talk featuring Katsunobu Yoshida, a forager, designer, and printer based in Yamagata Prefecture, who develops colors from foraged materials through his project Foraged Colors and conducts experimental research at Kyoto Institute of Technology, installing plant-dye-based inks into fabric pigment inkjet printers; and Vincent Tuset-Anrès, an art director based in Marseille, who co-founded Fotokino, a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to exhibitions, workshops, events, and publishing, and leads several projects exploring natural colors and their applications in publishing and printmaking. Craft artist Harumi Sugiura will also join the discussion.
In this session, Yoshida and Tuset-Anrès will discuss how they navigate between gathering materials from the sea, mountains, and cities, transforming them into pigments, and exploring processes of printing and publishing—translating the histories and local identities of materials into new forms of expression.

Katsunobu Yoshida
Katsunobu Yoshida is a forager, designer, and printer. Based in Yamagata Prefecture, he creates works that incorporate fieldwork and prototyping. Recent examples include Foraged Colors, a development project that aims to create colors from materials collected from the sea and mountains and to implement them in modern society, as well as ultra-specialized printing. He enjoys foraging and identifying mushrooms.

Vincent Tuset-Anrès
Vincent Tuset-Anrès is an art director, curator, graphic designer, and editor based in Marseille. In 2000, he co-founded Fotokino, a non-profit cultural organization that has become central to his work. Since 2004, he has been its art director, shaping exhibitions, workshops, events, and our publishing activities. In 2011, he opened Studio Fotokino in Marseille as a space dedicated to artistic exploration and encounters.
Through Fotokino’s publishing house, he collaborates closely with artists to create books considered as creative spaces in themselves. He also pursues independent curatorial and design work with cultural institutions and publishers, developing exhibitions, books, and visual identities. With the Fotokino team, he leads several projects dedicated to natural colors and their application in publishing and printmaking: in Provence, Morocco, and Senegal, experimenting with processes alongside other artists and craftspeople.
In 2025, he began a residency at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, focusing on the history and craftsmanship of art publishing in Japan and how these practices can inform his own.
Harumi Sugiura
Harumi Sugiura is a Japanese craftswoman who has been living in France for over 12 years. She explores Japanese folding techniques such as origami and Western fabric pleating applied to textiles dyed with natural colors (especially madder and indigo), creating unique pieces, sometimes in collaboration with designers.
