ベルギー・フランダースにおける建築キュレーターという実践 ― 好奇心と技能、そして社会との関わり ―
ベルギー・フランダースを拠点に活動するキュレーター／現代建築エディター、Katrien Vandermarliere氏をお迎えし、「ベルギー・フランダースにおける建築キュレーターという実践 ― 好奇心と技能、そして社会との関わり ―」と題した公開レクチャーを開催します。
本レクチャーでは、数多くの建築展の企画や建築文化機関の運営に携わってきた経験をもとに、これまで手がけてきた展覧会やフランダースにおける建築文化施設の活動、そして建築キュレーターという実践についてお話しいただきます。

Katrien Vandermarliere
Katrien Vandermarliereは美術史家であり、アントワープのdeSingel（国際芸術センター）において公共建築プログラムを担当（1991〜2002年）。国内外の現代建築家、都市計画家、ランドスケープデザイナーを紹介する70件以上の展覧会のキュレーターを務めた。また、『Flemish Architecture Yearbook』の編集委員（1992〜2000年）を務め、Flemish Architecture Instituteの所長を務めた（2002〜2010年）。
ベルギー国内においては、建築を専門家以外の一般市民に向けて発信する広報活動にとりわけ大きな影響を与えてきた。国際的には、2010年のヴェネチア国際建築ビエンナーレにおいてベルギー館のコミッショナーを務めた。また、2004年には最優秀パビリオン賞であるゴールデン・ライオン賞を受賞。受賞プロジェクトはコンゴ民主共和国の都市キンシャサに焦点を当てたものであり、人類学者 Filip De Boeck、写真家 Marie-Françoise Plissart、建築家 Koen Van Synghel との協働によって実現された。
2011年から2014年まで、Flemish Architecture InstituteおよびdeSingel International Art Campus（国際芸術キャンパス）においてキュレーターとして活動。2014年以降は、エンジニアリング事務所 Ney & Partners のコミュニケーション責任者を務める一方で、建築家や建築関連機関と協働するフリーランスのキュレーターおよび編集者として活動している。
また、フランダース地域および海外における建築文化の振興を目的として、数多くの建築コンペティションの審査員、助成金委員会の委員、シンクタンクのメンバーを務めてきた。

The Practice of an Architecture Curator in Flanders, Belgium: About Curiosity, Craft and Engagement
KYOTO Design Lab is pleased to host a public lecture by Katrien Vandermarliere, a curator and editor of contemporary architecture based in Flanders, Belgium, titled “The Practice of an Architecture Curator in Flanders, Belgium: About Curiosity, Craft and Engagement.”
In this lecture, drawing on her extensive experience in curating architectural exhibitions and leading architectural cultural institutions, Vandermarliere will discuss the exhibitions she has been involved in, the activities of architectural cultural institutions in Flanders, and the practice of architecture curation.

Katrien Vandermarliere
Katrien Vandermarliere is an art historian and was responsible for the public architecture program in the International Art Center deSingel, Antwerp (1991-2002). She was curator for more than 70 exhibitions with international and Belgian contemporary architects, planners and landscape designers. She was member of the editorial board of the Flemish Architecture Yearbook (1992-2000) and director of the Flemish Architecture institute (2002-2010).
Nationally, she has had particular influence in the public communication of architecture to a non-professional public. Internationally, she was twice commissioner for the Belgian Pavilion for the International Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2010 and received the Golden Lion Award in 2004 for the best pavilion contribution. The project focused on the Congolese city of Kinshasa and involved a collaboration with anthropologist Filip De Boeck, photographer Marie-Françoise Plissart and architect Koen Van Synghel.
From 2011 till 2014 she worked as curator for the Flemish Architecture Institute and deSingel International Art Campus. Since 2014 Katrien is head of communication for the engineering practice Ney & Partners alongside her freelance work as curator and editor with architects and architecture institutions.
She has been a member of countless architecture competitions juries, subsidy committees and think-tanks to stimulate architecture culture in Flanders and abroad.
