KYOTO Design Labでは、Herzog & de Meuronの全面的な協力のもと、実験的なデジタル展示を制作するワークショップを開催します。

3Dスキャンや3Dプリンタ、AR/VRなど、建築空間をデジタルデータとして記録、再出力することが当たり前になる中、改めてこれらデジタル的に複製されたオブジェの存在について、日本の芸術表現で古くから用いられてきた「うつし」の思想を踏まえて考えます。題材とするのは、いずれも2003年に竣工したバーゼルのシャウラガー美術館と東京のプラダ青山店に関するデジタル・オブジェクトです。

10月27日〜11月8日のワークショップでは、Herzog & de Meuronからアーカイブ・プレゼンテーションチームのメンバーが来日し、京都での基礎演習から東京での3Dドキュメントの収録と編集、展示デザインの構想、そしてD-labでのポップアップエキシビションの実装まで指導する予定です。

※本ワークショップは京都工芸繊維大学の学生を対象に開催されます。

KYOTO Design Lab will hold a workshop in close collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron to create an experimental digital exhibition.

In an age where architectural spaces are routinely recorded and reproduced using technologies such as 3D scanning, 3D printing, and AR/VR, this workshop will explore the significance of digitally replicated objects through the lens of Utsushi—a traditional Japanese concept of replication in artistic expression. The focus will be on digital objects related to two buildings completed in 2003: the Schaulager in Basel and the Prada Aoyama Store in Tokyo.

From October 27 to November 8, members of Herzog & de Meuron’s Archive and Presentation team will visit Japan to lead participants through all stages of the project—from preliminary exercises in Kyoto, to capturing and editing 3D documentation in Tokyo, developing exhibition design concepts, and finally implementing a pop-up exhibition at KYOTO Design Lab.

Note: This workshop is open to students of Kyoto Institute of Technology only.

Expenses
All costs must be covered by the participants.
*While the workshop will mainly be held on campus, travel and accommodation expenses for the Tokyo trip will be required.
