京都工芸繊維大学応用生物学系の山口政光教授が編集された『Drosophila Models for Human Diseases』が、Springer社の「Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology」シリーズから出版されました。

Drosophila Models for Human Diseases edited by KIT’s Professor Masamitsu Yamaguchi of the Department of Applied Biology is the latest publication from international science publisher Springer‘s ‘Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology’ series.

It is also something of a first in the world of scientific publications for it contains one chapter quite different from the rest – one that is dedicated to design.

Chapter 16 entitled ‘Designs for Flies + of Mice and Men: Design Approaches to Drosophila melanogaster’ was co-written by KYOTO D-lab’s Professor Julia Cassim with Frank Kolkman and Marcel Helmer, D-lab’s 2015 and 2016 Design Associates.

It describes the two interdisciplinary collaborative projects centred on drosophila they undertook with Professor Yamaguchi’s team and Professor Toshiyuki Takano, head of KIT’s Drosophila Genetic Resource Centre, which went on to garner awards and much attention.
