KYOTO Design Lab Library 5 『〈妄想〉する未来 – アート思考の挑戦』が株式会社昭和堂より発刊されました。
KYOTO Design Lab Libraryは、D-labの活動をベースに、領域を越えたさまざまな試みを発信し、あたらしいデザインの手がかりを提供するための出版プロジェクトです。
第５巻となる『〈妄想〉する未来 – アート思考の挑戦』は、「科学データに基づいた妄想＝アート思考はいつだって新しい。ものづくりの現場から妄想の社会実装に挑む」というコンセプトの下、ものづくりの伝統が息づく京都で産声を上げたKYOTO Design Lab［D-lab］の活動を紐解き、未来を照射します。
本書は３部構成となっており、第１部では、本学理事･副学長でD-lab創設者である小野芳朗教授による、KYOTO Design Lab創設に至った経緯を通して、その〈妄想〉の軌跡と、デザインの生まれる場をどう形成するか。国立大学に類例のない中、どのようにして創設から数年でデザイン・建築分野の世界的な教育研究拠点となったのか。組織と戦略、事業のプロセスと成果、そして未来に向けたビジョンを明らかにします。
そして第２部では、これまでD-labで行われてきた際立ったプロジェクトについて、岩本馨准教授、岡田栄造教授、バルナ・ゲルゲイ・ペーター特任研究員、水野大二郎特任教授（執筆順）ら、それぞれが携わった活動の実態や考察を紹介。続く第３部では、2040年へのチャレンジとして、各テーマに対して水野大二郎特任教授、赤松加寿江准教授、井戸美里准教授、津田和俊講師の４人の研究者たちによる「未来への〈妄想〉」が描かれています。

KYOTO Design Lab Library includes publishing projects that disseminate the attempts of various disciplines based on the activities of D-lab and aim to provide clues for a new design
The fifth volume discovers the topic “Envisions based on scientific data = art thinking is always new. Challenging Envisioning in Societal Implementation from the Manufacturing Perspective.”while revealing activities of KYOTO Design LAB (D-lab).
The book consists of three parts. In the first part Professor Yoshiro Ono (D-Lab CEO) focused on the methods of creating a place for designing while reflecting the background of KYOTO Design Lab. KYOTO Design Lab is a unique case among National Universities. So, how did D-Lab become a global education and research center in the design and architecture field within only a few years of its founding. Professor Ono reveals the strategy behind the organization, business outcomes and visions for the future.
The second part of the book compiles the most prominent D-lab projects. The authors will introduce their project activities and reveal the actual state concerning them. These authors include Associate professor Kaoru Iwamoto, Professor Eizo Okada, Specially Appointed Researcher Gergely Péter Barna, Daijiro Mizuno Specially Appointed Professor, Associate Professor Kazue Akamatsu, Associate Professor Misato Ido and Lecturer Kazutoshi (appeared in the writing order).
The theme of the third part is challenge till year 2040. The following four authors Specially Appointed Professor Daijiro Mizuno, Associate Professor Kazue Akamatsu, Associate Professor Misato Ido and Lecturer Kazutoshi Tsuda focus on research concerning future envisions.
