現在、D-labのデザイナー・イン・レジデンスとして京都工芸繊維大学に滞在中のユウリ・スズキ氏は、日本で最も著名な詩人である谷川俊太郎と彼が2010年に本学に寄贈した古いラジオ・コレクションを元にした作品を製作しています。本講演では、日常において予期せぬ楽しげな要素を出現させるデザインされたオブジェクト、あるいは我々と音についてさらに疑問が深まるような音響体験が組み込まれた一連の作品と共に、D-labとのプロジェクトを中心に語られる予定です。

ユウリ・スズキ
東京生まれ、日本のアート・ユニット明和電機で活動後、2005年にRCAで学ぶべくロンドンに移住。スズキ氏のサウンドアート作品・インスタレーションは国際的に展示され続けており、RCAのInformation Experience Designコースでチューターを務め、New Radiophonic Workshopのメンバーでもある。2014年には彼の作品がMOMA（NY）のパーマネント・コレクションとして買い上げられた。

Yuri Suzuki is a sound artist, designer and electronic musician whose work explores the realms of sound through pieces, which question the relationship between sound and people and how music and sound affect people’s minds.
He is currently Kyoto D-Lab’s Designer-in-Residence creating an interpretative work based on Tanikawa Shuntaro and the collection of vintage radios which Japan’s most renowned poet donated to KIT in 2010. Suzuki’s lecture will focus on his project with D-Lab as well as his body of work where an audio experience is incorporated into designed objects to bring a joyously unexpected element to the everyday or to raise bigger questions about our relationship with sound.

Yuri Suzuki
Born in Tokyo, he worked for Japanese art unit Maywa Denki but moved to London in 2005 to study at the RCA. Suzuki’s sound art pieces and installations have been shown in exhibitions internationally. He is a tutor in the Information Experience Design Course at the RCA and member of New Radiophonic Workshop. In 2014, the Museum of Modern Art New York acquired his work for their permanent collection.
