(English Edition)

With a little bit of forethought and planning, presentations and startup pitches can be improved exponentially.

本書の内容の一部は、私が毎年Kyoto Startup Summer Schoolで行っている講義「How to deliver an awesome startup pitch」でも取り上げているものです。

Associate Professor Sushi Suzuki, founder and organizer of Kyoto Startup Summer School has recently published the book, “Riveting: Startup Pitches that Persuade from Storytelling to Design” (LITTLEWIRE-UNIPESSOAL LDA).

With a little bit of forethought and planning, presentations and startup pitches can be improved exponentially
── from the prologue

Today, with the growing popularity of startups and the ever-increasing number of organizations that support them, the number of pitch contests has exploded over the past decade. While entrepreneurs spend a lot of time focusing on their products, business models, and growth strategies, compelling pitches are often overlooked.

Presentation design can be dramatically improved with a little ingenuity and planning. This book presents a specific set of frameworks and guides for producing a great startup pitch. It also provides an understanding of how good presentations and pitches are designed and what initial steps can be taken to create a presentation that will more the audience.

Comment from Sushi Suzuki
I had the fortune to listen to a lot of startup pitches as well as coach at some of the biggest events in the world. Through my years of experience, I’ve realized that the quality of pitches varies wildly even at the top startup events. While most people understand the importance of pitches, there is very written on the subject matter, and entrepreneurs seem to design their pitches without careful planning or consideration.
With this book, I’m hoping to provide a simple but focused guide for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs so that next time they get on stage, their ideas will shine.
Some of the content in this book is also what’s covered in my lecture “How to deliver an awesome startup pitch” which I conduct every year at Kyoto Startup Summer School.
