気候変動、人口減少、分断と孤立、AIによる社会変容。
私たちを取り巻く社会課題はますます複雑化し、単一の専門家や組織だけでは対応できないものとなっています。人々がかつてないほどつながり合う一方で、価値観や立場の違いによる分断も深まっています。こうした状況の中で、デザインは何ができるのでしょうか。
本研究会では、Design for Social Innovation（DfSI）の提唱者であるエツィオ・マンズィーニの著作を読み解きながら、その思想が現在の社会においてどのような意味を持つのかを検討します。
単なる輪読にとどまらず、近年の社会動向やデザイン理論の展開を踏まえながら、「これからの社会イノベーションのためのデザイン」を自分たちなりに構想することを目指します。社会イノベーションとは何か、コミュニティとは何か、協働やケアはどのように再定義されうるのか。マンズィーニの議論を手がかりに、参加者それぞれの研究や実践との接点を探ります。
また、本プログラムは、来日予定のエツィオ・マンズィーニ氏とのトークセッションに向けた準備の場でもあります。マンズィーニ氏の議論を理解するだけでなく、自らの問いや仮説を持ち寄り、対話に臨むための共同研究の機会として開催します。
分断と接続が交錯する時代において、私たちはどのような関係性を育み、どのような未来を構想できるのか。本研究会を通じて、ソーシャルイノベーションとデザインの新たな可能性を参加者とともに探求します。

Climate change, population decline, division and isolation, social transformation driven by AI.
The social challenges surrounding us are becoming increasingly complex, to the point where no single expert or organization can address them alone. While people are more connected than ever before, divisions stemming from differing values and positions are also deepening. In this context, what can design actually do?
In this research seminar, we will read through the works of Ezio Manzini, a leading proponent of Design for Social Innovation (DfSI), and examine what his thinking means for our current society.
Rather than simply being a reading group, this program aims to take into account recent social trends and developments in design theory, and to envision, in our own terms, a “design for the social innovation to come.” What is social innovation? What is community? How might collaboration and care be redefined? Using Manzini’s arguments as a starting point, we will explore the connections between his ideas and each participant’s own research and practice.
This program also serves as preparation for a talk session with Ezio Manzini, who is scheduled to visit Japan. The goal is not only to understand Manzini’s arguments, but to use this as an opportunity for collaborative research in which participants bring their own questions and hypotheses to the dialogue.
In an era where division and connection intersect, what kinds of relationships can we cultivate, and what kinds of futures can we envision? Through this research seminar, we will explore new possibilities for social innovation and design together with the participants.
