イタリア発の高機能素材「Alcantara®」を用いて、新たなデザインの可能性を探る共同プロジェクト「Alcantara With An Asian Flavour」の参加者を募集します。
本プロジェクトはAlcantara社が主催する大学連携プロジェクトで、日本・韓国・中国のアジア3大学が参加し、各大学で選抜されたプロジェクトがミラノデザインウィーク2027にて合同展示されます。日本からは京都工芸繊維大学が参加します。
プロジェクトでは、京都市内でのリサーチをグループワークで行った後、個人でデザイン開発を進め、来春開催のミラノデザインウィーク2027での展示を目指します。

※単位認定の対象にはなりませんが、学部生の応募も受け付けます。

※応募者多数の場合は選考により参加者を決定します。その場合は選考結果をメールでご連絡します。
参加条件
- 2027年春の学内展示まで参加できること
- リサーチフェーズはグループワーク、デザインフェーズは個人での制作が行えること
- 成果物としてプロトタイプ1点およびデジタル・プロジェクトブック（リサーチからコンセプト開発、素材検証、ユーザーシナリオ、技術図面、レンダリング、プロトタイプ写真までを記録したPDF）、作業中の制作動画・画像のrawdataを撮影・提供すること
- 下記の同意事項すべてについて同意すること

成果物の選考プロセス
提出作品から2作品が選抜されます。うち1作品（Featured Selected Project）の学生には、Alcantara社より研究助成（ミラノでの展示発表参加＋Alcantara工場・研究開発センター訪問、渡航費・宿泊費込み）が授与されます。
費用
Alcantara素材はAlcantara社より提供されます。それ以外のモックアップ制作等にかかる費用は参加者負担となります。

Step into the global design scene through Alcantara®, Italy’s innovative high-performance material. This is a university collaboration project organized by Alcantara S.p.A.
Three Asian universities from Japan, South Korea and China are each participating, and each university’s selected projects will be exhibited together at Milan Design Week 2027. Kyoto Institute of Technology has now partnered as the Japanese participating university; the research phase will take place in Kyoto as group work, followed by an individual design development phase.
Through this process, participants will develop their own proposals with the aim of exhibiting the selected works at Milan Design Week 2027 next spring.

*Meetings and desk reviews are planned to be held approximately once a week. Proposals should go beyond decorative interpretation to create meaningful, culturally grounded experiences

KIT students in Design or Architecture (Master’s level and above)
*While this program does not count toward academic credit for undergraduate students, applications from undergraduates who wish to participate are also welcome.

*If the number of applicants exceeds the capacity, participants will be selected based on their applications. Applicants will be notified of the results by email.
Participation Requirements
- Be able to participate in the project through the on-campus exhibition in spring 2027.
- Ability to work in a group during the research phase and produce individual work during the design phase
- Submission of one prototype and a digital project book (PDF documenting the process from research through concept development, material testing, user scenarios, technical drawings, renderings, and prototype photos) as the final deliverables, and provision of raw video/photo data documenting the making process.
- Agreement to all consent items.

Selection Process
Two projects will be selected from the submitted works. The student(s) behind one of these two (“Featured Selected Project”) will be awarded a Research Grant from Alcantara S.p.A. (participation in the exhibition/presentation in Milan, plus a visit to Alcantara’s factory and R&D center, including travel and accommodation costs).
Costs
Alcantara Material will be provided by Alcantara S.p.A. Any costs for mock-up production beyond this will be borne by participating students themselves.
