京都工芸繊維大学 KYOTO Design Labは、チューリッヒ工科大学（ETH Zürich）の建築家・研究者アナーニャ・カンゴ氏による公開レクチャー「Digital {physical} fabrication for architecture」を在大阪スイス領事館（Swissnex in Japan）と共催で開催します。
デジタル技術により、建築家はここ数十年、より高い精度、効率性、適応性を備えた設計が可能になり、従来の建築ワークフローに変革をもたらしました。建築の物理的な側面では、デジタルファブリケーションは、材料を最適化し、廃棄物を削減し、構造的な可能性を押し広げる新しい建設手法を導入しています。本レクチャーでは、チューリッヒ工科大学の建築・デジタルファブリケーション修士課程（MAS DFAB）の詳細、「Learning-by-building」の考え方、MAS DFABの文脈におけるデジタルファブリケーションについて紹介します。
また、チューリッヒ工科大学のGramazio Kohler Researchに4ヶ月間、研究員として滞在したバルナ・ゲルゲイ・ぺーター氏との共同研究プロジェクト「Augmented Craftsman」についても紹介します。

コンピュテーショナルデザインとデジタルファブリケーションの経験を持つ建築家、メーカー。2022年にチューリッヒ工科大学の建築・デジタルファブリケーション修士課程（MAS DFAB）を卒業して以来、同課程の指導主任兼コーディネーターを務めている。
バルナ・ゲルゲイ・ぺーター
博士（建築学）。2019年よりKYOTO Design Labにて「ダイナミック・ヘリテージ」をテーマに、浮月楼（静岡）の庭園アーカイヴ・プロジェクトなど、伝統的な職人技と最先端のアーカイブ技術、計算技術、加工技術を組み合わせた実践的な研究プロジェクトを実施。2024年、チューリッヒ工科大学 Gramazio Kohler Researchの博士研究員として滞在し、「Augmented Craftsmanship」プロジェクトを実施。

KYOTO Design Lab will hold a public lecture “Digital {physical} fabrication for architecture“ by Ananya Kango, an architect and researcher at ETH Zürich. The lecture is co-hosted by Swissnex in Japan.
Digital technology has enabled architects to design with greater precision, efficiency, and adaptability for the last decades, transforming traditional construction workflows. On the physical aspect of building, digital fabrication introduces new methods of construction that optimize materials, reduce waste, and push structural possibilities. The lecture will introduce the course in detail, the idea of “learning-by-building” and a look at digital fabrication in the context of the MAS DFAB.
The lecture will also cover Ananya’s joint research project “Augmented Craftsmanship” with Gergely Péter Barna, who spent 4 months at the Gramazio Kohler Research, ETH Zürich as a research fellow.

Ananya Kango
Ananya Kango is an architect and maker with experience in computational design and digital fabrication. He has been the teaching lead and coordinator for the Master of Advanced Studies in Architecture and Digital Fabrication (MAS DFAB) program at ETH Zürich since graduating from it in 2022.
Gergely Péter Barna
Gergely Péter Barna has a PhD in Japanese Architecture. Since 2019 he has been executing pragmatic research projects at the KYOTO Design Lab with the theme ‘Dynamic Heritage’ that combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art archiving, computation, and machining technologies, including the Garden Archives Project at Fugetsuro (Shizuoka). In 2024 he stayed as a postdoc fellow at the Gramazio Kohler Research, ETH Zürich with his project ‘Augmented Craftsmanship’.
