KYOTO Design Lab［D-lab］は、2020年9月30日[水]から10月18日[日]の期間、KYOTO Design Lab Library 4として発刊された書籍『キュラトリアル・ターン──アーティストの変貌、創ることの変容』に関連した展覧会「para･textile 本を編む──繁茂する外延」を開催いたします。
書籍『キュラトリアル・ターン』は、2017年7月15日にD-lab主催で実施した国際ラウンド・テーブル「批判力のあるキュレーション──アーティストによるその実践」（当日レポート）、および同日の映像インスタレーション＋トーク・セッション「解釈行為としての想像──アーティストによるその実践」でのトーク内容がテクスト化され編まれました。
本展では、ゲストキュレーターに中野裕介氏（パラモデル）を迎え、書籍の編集作業により生まれたさまざまな「パラテクスト」を空間展示に展開し、キュレーションと制作のあらたな創造的転回を再検証します。

展示概要
声からテクストへ、テクストから書物へ、テクストはさらに何処へ？
2017年7月15日の午後、4名のアーティストが、哲学者を交えて、キュレーターとしてのアーティストに今日なにが求められているのかをみずからの実践に即しながら語り合った。同日の夜、ある外国人アーティストが、古い16mmフィルムをイメージソースとして新たに制作した映像作品を、一晩限りのインスタレーションとして公開し、映像メディアをとおして場所と歴史がいかに創造的に解釈されうるのかについてトークを展開した。
キュレーションと解釈をめぐる彼らの声は、文字に起こされテクスト化され、そこから1冊の本『キュラトリアル・ターン』がKYOTO Design Labライブラリー第4巻として編まれることとなった。
声はいつ、テクストとなるのか──。
テクストは、どのようにして書物になるのか──。
本を編むとは、いかなる行為なのか──。
実際の編集作業をとおして生まれてきたさまざまなパラテクストが、D-lab東京ギャラリーという展示空間のなかで過剰に絡み合いながら、本を編むという営みのメタファーを空間的・時間的に織りなしていく。

Summary
From voice to text, from text to book, and then where the text will go?
On the afternoon of July 15th 2017, four artists and a philosopher discussed what is expected for an artist today referring to their own practices. In the evening of the same day another artist presented a new video work inspired by an old 16mm film as one-night installation and had a talk session on how place and history can be interpreted creatively through visual media. Their voice for curation and interpretation have been transcribed and textualized, to be published as Curatorial Turn, the fourth book of KYOTO Design Lab Library. When does voice turn into text? How does text become a book? What does it imply to edit a book? Tangling excessively, the paratext created through the actual editing weaves the metaphor of the act of editing spatiotemporally in the KYOTO Design Lab Tokyo Gallery.
