背景
テキスタイル—つまり織物とは、私たちの生活のあらゆる場面に関わる分野であり、布地によって生まれる生活のあり方について、新たな対話や機会をもたらす可能性を秘めたものです。とくに、インテリジェント・テキスタイルと呼ばれる領域は、医療（一般的医療から、専門性の高い医療、そして障がい者や高齢者に関わる医療）、スポーツ、極限環境、そしてこれら各分野の特殊な場面にわたって、豊かな未来像を提供するものです。
インテリジェント・テキスタイルは、もともと材質的な特性を備えているもの、特定の機能を実現するために開発されたもの、テクノロジーが埋め込まれたもの （これは前述の2分野と組み合わせて利用されることもあります）と定義することができます。
5日間にわたるワークショップでは、ユーザー・課題・使用場面を総合的に考えながらテキスタイルが果たす役割を追及していきます。参加者は、素材実験・シナリオ作成・各分野の専門家からの指導助言をとおして、革新的で可能性のある、新たな未来像を探ります。

Background
Textiles literally touch every aspect of our lives and offer the potential for new dialogues and new opportunities to experience ways of living through fabric. The area of intelligent textiles, in particular, presents a rich area for crossover scenarios that span healthcare (mainstream and specialist,disability and age-related), sports and extreme environments as well as those relating to specific aspects of each. Intelligent textiles can be defined as those with inherent material qualities, those that have been engineered for specific functional purposes or those with embedded technology, which may be used in combination with the first two categories.
This five-day workshop will explore the role that textiles can play in the mediation between the user, the issue and the context of use. Through material experimentation and scenario-building and with input from specialists in the relevant areas, participants will explore and prototype innovative potential new scenarios of use.
